IperionX Secures $47.1 Million DoD Contract to Strengthen U.S. Titanium Supply Chain

IperionX Limited, Charlotte, North Carolina, announced a landmark contract with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) worth up to $47.1 million. This funding aims to bolster the U.S. Defense Industrial Base by developing a fully integrated, low-cost titanium supply chain sourced domestically.

This strategic partnership marks a total investment of $70.7 million, combining resources from IperionX and the DoD over a two-year, two-phase development program. The initiative is designed to enhance U.S. titanium production capabilities, vital for national security and economic strength.

In the initial phase, the DoD has allocated $5 million through the Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) program, with IperionX contributing an additional $1 million. This funding will expedite the Titan Critical Minerals Project in Tennessee, bringing it to 'shovel-ready' status to secure a domestic source of titanium and other critical minerals.

The remaining $42.1 million will support vertical integration and boost production capacity at IperionX’s Titanium Manufacturing Campus in Virginia. CEO Anastasios (Taso) Arima emphasized that this contract is a significant step toward re-shoring the U.S. titanium industry, which has long depended on foreign supply chains.

IperionX’s proprietary technologies, including Hydrogen-Assisted Metallothermic Reduction (HAMR™), aim to produce low-cost, high-performance titanium, addressing the urgent need for a resilient domestic supply chain. This initiative aligns with the DoD's commitment to sourcing titanium innovatively and sustainably for U.S. military needs.
