VIRTUAL Basic PM Short Course Deemed a Success!
The annual Basic Powder Metallurgy (PM) Short Course recently pressed out another batch of students. This year's course, the first ever VIRTUAL offering as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic, offered a unique opportunity for attendees to view each presentation “On-Demand” over a 4-day period from August 10–14. The program received great feedback from attendees, with 100% stating the content was excellent.
As seen in most years, this year’s attendees had a broad range of job responsibilities, with the largest represented industry segment being engineering/R&D (50%). However, 23% of the attendees were from quality control and testing and 23% of the attendees were reported management roles. Another (4%) in various roles rounded out the short course attendees. The breakdown of companies represented included: PM parts makers (67%); metal powder producers (31%); and other (2%).
The Basic PM Short Course is a vital educational tool for the entire industry. Each speaker is an expert in their field and provides invaluable knowledge. Combined, the speakers have an incredible total of over 400 years of relative in-industry experience. The course is specifically designed for those who want to expand their knowledge of PM; enhance their opportunities to advance; and for those who are looking to deepen their understanding in the specialized area of PM.
If you missed the Basic PM Short Course this year, do not worry—this annual course is held every August. Keep an eye out for the MPIF courses & seminars updates and registration information for next year.
