U.S. Senator Casey Announces Federal Manufacturing Grant for North Central Pennsylvania
U.S. Senator Bob Casey, Pennsylvania, addresses representatives from the powder metallurgy industry.
U.S. Senator Bob Casey visited Ridgway, Pennsylvania, to announce the awarding of a $400,000 federal grant to further develop the manufacturing sector in North Central Pennsylvania.
“This region, North Central Pennsylvania, is an area where we have to continue to focus our attention and federal investment,” said Casey, speaking at the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission facility. “This is a victory for the people of this region, and I know it’s not the end of the road. This grant is for strategy and planning and there’s still more work to do to achieve the fulfillment of what you’ve all tried to do over many years.”
The award, which comes from a Tech Hubs Strategy Development Grant, is expected to boost the powder metallurgy manufacturing sector in the region.
“The people in North Central Pennsylvania have long worked to manufacture many of the materials that help to power the American economy, not just the Pennsylvania economy,” Casey continued. “You all know that one-third of the world’s powder metallurgy and carbon manufacturing facilities are located in North Central Pennsylvania, and the people in Cameron, Clearfield, McKean, Jefferson, Potter and Elk counties deserve this investment in innovation and manufacturing expertise.”
